When you want to start thinking like a kitchens' designer, start thinking about your budget. How much do you have to spend on your kitchen, and what kind of effects are you looking for? There are a lot of people out there who just do not know where to start, but if you know how much money you have to work with, you are going to be in a good place. You'll be able to plan ahead and to make sure that you do not run out of money halfway through the project. Take some time and really consider how much money you can spend on the project and where you want to allocate it.

Here's a great tip that any kitchens' designer would be proud to take on. Consider your cabinets. No matter how square they are or how boring they are, you'll find that staining the wood can give you at terrific effect. One of the best tips that you can try will involve staining your kitchen with three different stains. With the bottom cabinets, start with a nice dark stain, and use a progressively lighter one with each level that you go up. This is something that can make a huge difference and it can give rather boring cabinets a lovely bit of visual variety. This is something that can go a long way towards giving you the results that you need.

If you have a bandsaw, you can have even more fun with your kitchen cabinets. Are you tired of cabinet doors? If you are, why not think about cutting out the middle of them. Then take some fabric and staple it to the edges of the doors, on the back. Then you can cover the staples with fabric trim and a glue gun. This is a good way to add some nice accents to your kitchen, and this is a terrific thing to do when you are looking for good kitchens' designer effects. You can use fabrics that remind you of the country, like gingham and plaids or you may find that you are more interested in something more elegant with a more bowl pattern.

What kitchens' designer effects are you looking for, and what kind of results can you expect? All you need to do …

Cebu City, Philippines – The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

A tourist visiting Cebu City for the first time may well be turned off by some of the city sites. The city has several world class resorts, hotels, beaches and dive sites. It also has some areas of the world’s most devastating poverty. Cebu City is the capital city of the Cebu Province and it is the second largest city in the Philippines following Manila. I always feel at home in the city and lived in the city before building my home in the rural Cebu Province of Camotes Islands. Cebu City is a mix of the old and new, rich and poor, good and bad and pretty and ugly. There is also the mix of clean and really dirty or filthy. The rule for anyone going to Cebu for the first time is to not make a snap judgment.

My first trip to Cebu City was in February 2004. I went to the Philippines to meet a girl (Judith) now my wife. I flew into the Cebu-Mactan Airport and was met by Judith and one of here sisters. My flight started in Florida and the last leg of the flight was from Hong Kong. The Cebu International airport is just a little outdated, but very functional. Once outside of the airport doors I saw waves of people waiting to meet people coming off of the flight from Hong Kong. The airport was not all that busy when I arrived and I think my plane was the only arriving flight at the time. As people from my flight walk outside of the airport door they were bombarded with shuttle, taxi and V-hire greeters, all trying to get a fare. I met Judith just outside the airport doors. She, her sister and I all jumped into an old Kia Taxi and we were off to my hotel.

The taxi was old and not very well maintained. The Air conditioner didn’t work and the window wouldn’t go down. Of course that didn’t matter as I couldn’t close the door because the door latch was broken. So, I got lots of air. The hotel was about a 30 minute drive from the airport. As we traveled the city streets I saw crowded sidewalks made even more crowded by the many sidewalk vendors and street vendors. Some of the roads we traveled were moderately maintained while others were in very poor condition. The roads were crowded with many types of cars, but mostly Kia’s and Hyundais. There were also a lot of Jeepneys, a Philippine traditional method of travel. A jeepney looks like a stretched army jeep with a hardtop and a large cargo area used for two benches for passenger seating. Jeepneys are normally painted with several different colors and lots of chrome. Many of the jeepneys are poorly maintained and most have bald tires and the braking systems may be questionable. Also, there were lots of small motorcycles.

After traveling just a few minutes I decided that the most dangerous vehicle in …

Planning Your Interior Decoration

As our homes are an important part of the world around us, most of us try to have beautiful and exotic items in our homes to make it more enjoyable to live in. There are various factors to keep in mind while planning your interior decoration as homes are not just made of a roof and four walls. When you talk of home décor, it encompasses several things such as designs, materials and themes.

While planning your home decor project, you can choose a specific theme for every room or one theme for the entire home. You can beautify a house in such a way that each room is decorated with styles of different countries that you have visited. You can bring the authentic look by including art and furniture from each of those countries visited.

Before embarking on the home improvement project, you have to be clear of your needs. You must also take into account your personal likes and dislikes while planning for a home decoration. You can decide from a range of themes such as Victorian to more contemporary themes that suit both the urban and modern lifestyle.

One of the modern home décor ideas is the use of bamboo which is becoming popular nowadays. As bamboo is both beautiful and eco-friendly, it has many advantages that has made it the desired choice for home interior decoration. With the use of bamboo you can convert your home into a paradise of peace and harmony. You can also choose this material because of its sheer versatility. This material can be used in almost anything starting from floorings to even curtains! You must remember that non-toxic glue must be used for sealing the sheets while decorating your home interior.

Bamboo curtains can also be bought cheaply from all over the world and can match with the flooring with convenience. Bamboo flooring can also enhance the ambience of the place, but you must make sure to keep the space clutter free. You should choose slightly muted colors for this theme. In case you are interested in adding more color to the space, you can opt from a range of cushions and rugs that make excellent floor decor additions.

You can also add a nice painting of a color that matches the home décor accessories and a couple of flowers to add some freshness to the room.…

Laundry Dilemma, Three Simple Questions to Save Your Sanity

Our laundry was a disaster and if answering three questions were going to help us we would have been thanking anyone for any advice. So I decided that it would be a goal of mine to be on top of the laundry so who showed up whenever they showed up at our house laundry would not be an obstacle on the way to the kitchen.

First I need to go back a little ways. My wife of twenty seven years and I have raised four children and held down our practitioners in spite of the odds against it and we are still together and in love. Our children three of which are grown, well almost, twenty-four, twenty-one and nineteen are happy well adjusted and on their way to becoming a positive contribution to society. We still have a nine year old and the third grade is tougher than we remember.

The twenty-one and nineteen year olds have moved out and have an apartment five miles away. They are girls so that took away a lot of the laundry and a lot of the laundry doers all in one move. Our son twenty-one years old and our nine year old are at home and believe me both contribute to the laundry in a big way.

Now you can imagine that with three teens and one toddler our laundry was a disaster. We could never find the time or when we could find the time we could not find the energy to get our laundry done and put away.

Now our house by no means was dirty just cluttered with laundry, no surface area uncluttered, mounds of laundry waiting to be washed and another mound waiting to be put away. I remember four or five laundry baskets lined up in the dining room and our kids having the time of their lives pulling each other around around them.

I tried every way including the military way to get everything going in one direction but to no avail. Things just seem to be out of control and no sign of returning to normal. So I was going crazy and thought to myself that whenever I go to someone's house it looked like Better Homes and Garden, why can not we just get the laundry done? My poor wife would be exhausted and be dragging around the house trying to get the laundry picked up before she would pass out from total exhaustion.

So finally I figured out what the problem was and it was logistics. From this I will ask you three simple questions and your answers will help you get ahead of the tornado and help you keep up on the dreaded laundry. First of all it was not until I decided to not sweat it that it became easier.

Question number one, "Where are the socks?" You if you are like me and my wife you have forty five unmatched socks at any given time. I finally took those unmatched socks …

Designing With Beanbags and Inflatable Decor

Anytime you find yourself decorating a child's room, you can really have a lot of fun, because many of the elements that you include in the design for a child's room are wacky and whimsical. For example, you can brighten up their room by adding inflatable furniture and beanbag chairs. With a variety of colors, styles, sizes and textures, both inflatable furniture and beanbags offer a lot of versatility and snuggly comfort to a child's room.

Beanbag Benefits
Beanbag chairs have been around for about a half of a century, and over the last decade they have regained popularity. Perhaps the children of the sixties are using them to decorate their children's rooms. Regardless of the reason for the beanbag chair resurgence, the new beanbags are even more soft and comfortable than the originals. While the originals were filled with foam beans and covered with vinyl, the updated models are filled with even softer foam stuffing and they come in just about any fabric imaginable from soft plush, to denim, to the original vinyl. So as you are selecting the perfect beanbag for your child's room you will have a few choices to make. First decide what covering you want on the chair. While vinyl is easy to wipe clean, it is hot and sticky in the summer and cold in the winter. A better cover selection may be a removable, washable cover that you can spot clean and occasionally throw in the washer. Then you want to decide what size of chair you want to get your child. You can get them in the tiniest, child sized, round beanbag to jumbo beanbag sofas. Beanbag chairs are great for reading, watching TV or playing video games.

Big Designs with Inflatable Decor
Adding inflatable furniture to your child's bedroom is a great way to add furniture when they have friends over, because when everyone is gone, you can deflate it, fold it up and store it in a drawer. They are lightweight enough for a child to move, and you can find chairs, sofas, ottomans and beds. Inflatable furniture is comfortable and easy to inflate and deflate. Inflatable beds are handy to have on hand when your child has a slumber party. It also offers them the opportunity to reconfigure their rooms by themselves, which builds a sense of pride and ownership.

Great for Adults and Kids Alike
Inflatable furniture is a great addition to your teen's dorm room as well, because they can use it to lounge when visiting with friends and tuck it away when they need more floor space. Also adding the inflatable bed to a dorm room gives their friends a comfortable place to sleep when they visit.

Each room includes a balcony, a coffee / tea maker and a hair dryer. …

Add Real Value to Your Home With a Greenhouse Kit

While a new greenhouse kit can add curve appeal through a stylish freestanding or lean-to greenhouse model and theoretically increase your property value, that's not what this article is about. This article is about those intangibles that are created when you add a hobby greenhouse to your property and help turn it from a house into a home.

Quality Time with the Family

By adding a greenhouse to your home you create an environment that lets you partake in family activities throughout the year. You can create a fun and interactive learning environment for children and teens which enables you to teach them how to grow and take care of a wide variety of plants. The quality time you spend together can not be quantified in the numbers of hours spent together but rather the lasting memories it will create. Plus you get to have some fun results, especially if you plant fruits or vegetables. Once you've grown your crops you can take the fun into the kitchen and use the homegrown produce to cook and bake any number of things. The time spent together in your hobby greenhouse is priceless.

Quality Time Away From the Family

While this seems to be counterproductive to the first reason, it's also a great reason. With the stresses of family life and running from school to work to event after event it can get hectic. Sometimes, you just need to get away from it all and relax. Gardening in your home greenhouse provides the escape you need, even if only for a few minutes of the day. Take a break, water the plants, breathe in the aromatic smells and then head back into the wonderful chaos of family life.

Learn New Skills for Little to No Cost

Adding a greenhouse kit to your house will have the obvious initial upfront costs but after that you can learn new skills at your own pace whether it's trying to grow a tropical plant, growing those Christmas Poinsettia's or growing your own strawberries to make homemade jams. There are so many new options to try with a greenhouse from baking and cooking, to making your own flower arrangements, to creating drawn flowers for scrap booking. Most of the time the cost for you is only a pack of seeds, some water and a little bit of time but the skills learned become a source of personal pride.

Cut Down On Grocery Bills

This has been mentioned in our previous articles but it is a very valuable point to mention. When you add a home greenhouse kit to your home, you provide yourself with a great option to grow your own fruits and vegetables. It's the freshest produce you can get and you can do it completely organic. A pack of seeds is all it takes and you'll no longer have to spend a fortune at the grocery store on overpriced fruits and vegetables, meaning you'll have more money to put away for that family vacation or …

Starting Your Own House Clearance Business

Many of those who lose their jobs during a recession will find it tough to find another job and may start to think about investing in their own business with whatever redundancy pay they may have received. This can be a golden opportunity to become your own boss, but it takes hard work, determination and perseverance to make a new business successful and it rarely happens overnight.

It is always tempting when thinking about starting a business to do something you have always loved doing – make your hobby your job. But, sadly, in the majority of these cases the businesses just don’t succeed. This is mainly because they have been embarked upon with a personal bias and not from a purely business perspective. Whatever decision you might make about going it alone, that decision must always be a business one first and foremost.

The best approach to starting your own business is to research all those services or products that are required in both good and bad economic times.

A house clearance business is one such service that will always be in demand. More and more people are looking for this service sometimes simply to get their houses ready for sale. Or they might have moved and settled permanently abroad and now wish someone to clear out the house in readiness for selling it. Establishing a good business relationship with local estate agents can lead to regular business referrals.

But house clearance is most particularly required after a death in the family. The bereaved often do not want to clear the house at such an emotional time, and the act of disposing of a loved one’s belongings can be overwhelming. Relatives can struggle to sort out the belongings of the deceased whilst coping with their grief and the ongoing demands of work and family life. Or there may simply be no emotional ties and the deceased is a distant relative in another part of the country.

Whatever the reason, there is a booming business clearing out other people’s unwanted belongings.

Whilst local auctioneers do sometimes offer house clearance services, they are really looking for valuable items to sell in their auctions and are not usually interested in the junk. So if you are embarking on this type of business then you need to be prepared to clear everything and often to deal with people at a difficult time in their lives.

Many items that are unwanted by one individual can still be recycled or donated to charity so be sure to consider these options where possible.

To distinguish your business from the rogue element that operate bogus house clearance services it is worth joining the UK House Clearance Association.

Every member of the association makes some key commitments, which are simply good business practice:

· To provide a clear description, price and timetable for the house clearance to be carried out.

· To guarantee full liability insurance.

· To hold a current waste carrier’s license issued by the Environment …

Hookless Shower Curtains

A hookless shower curtain is simply that – a shower curtain without hooks! Traditionally shower curtains have small holes in them for adding hooks or rings which can be attached to a rod or rail across the shower or bath. Hookless curtains have much larger holes, grommets or eyelets allowing for a rod to be placed through the holes. The rings are flexible and literally pop over the curtain rod allowing for quick and easy installation.

Advantages:

– no fiddly hooks to mess around with or snap

– easy to install with ‘flex-rings’ (10 seconds)

– clean straight line

– easy to slide curtain along pole

– do not have to take whole rod down for washing curtain

– curtain folds/stacks neatly when pulled back

– no additional hooks or rings to buy

Disadvantages:

– holes could tear if eyelets fail or poor quality

– cannot personalise with curtain hooks

When choosing a hookless option for your curtain you are not restricted to plain curtains or even just white. Curtains suitable for rods come in a myriad of designs, colours and patterns with contrasting or co-ordinating eyelets. One of my bright favourites that I have come across is a Peva 71 x 74 inch ‘Splash’ design which has different sized panels featuring different coloured spots with the 3 words: Suds, Ker-splatt and Splash printed across the curtain and contrasting red eyelets or grommets.

How to correctly install your hookless curtain:

1. Stand outside the tub facing in

2. Grasp the top half of a pair of rings (with the slit between them) with both hands

3. Gently push top half of rings over the shower rod, the lower half of rings will follow under rod. The slits magically disappear

4. Continue until complete

5. When installed correctly the curtain’s side edges will face out and the slits will be behind the rod.

Most shower curtains have a special anti-microbial treatment that helps to resist mould and mildew. Hookless curtains are available in plain white, plain colours such as blue, red and pink. Striped curtains can have horizontal or vertical stripes, two-tone or multicoloured. Curtains with mosaic borders where the eyelets are look great and hide the slits really well. Patterns feature widely in hookless shower curtains and another very popular design is with a clear viewing panel. Some even have pockets for customising and personalising your curtain. Black and white stripes are a classic for any bathroom decor and of course you will be able to find liners if you need them.…

3 Advantages Of Owning A Synthetic Home Putting Green

A home putting green is quite useful. It'll make your game better without having the need to visit the golf course regularly. It also enables you to invite friends over for a round of mini golf. Because of this, having one in your own home is considered useful by many golfers. This is especially true for beginners who want to improve their game play.

3 Advantages Of A Synthetic Putting Green

Doubles As A Landscape

If the woman of the house is not too eager about the putting green because it would take up her garden space in the backyard, you can have your putting green double as a landscape. There are companies that install ornamental plants and fountains to make it also look like a landscape. The positioning and styling of the landscape is strategically done so that you can still practice your game on your green while having space for the garden.

This will get rid of the rivalry of spouses on who will have the right to use the backyard and turn it into a garden or a putting green. Also, this will make the house much more attractive. By having a backyard that is both useful and beautiful, you will make your home even more eye-catching. This will also make your practice nicer – because of the ambiance that the flowering plants and the fountain would give on your putting green.

Easier To Install

Because a synthetic green is often manufactured according to the specifications of the buyer, it is easier to install. You will not need any gardening supplies just to install it in your backyard because the grass is synthetic. You only have to have the synthetic turf installed according to your specifications and designs. You can also install the turf on your own. Just purchase artificial turf at the store of your choice and you can easily have your own in your backyard. Better yet, buy one online.

Requires Little To No Maintenance

A synthetic green requires very little maintenance because the grass does not grow. You do not need to mow it because the grass is synthetic and will not grow even a bit. It would also never require fertilizers and other stuff that natural grass would need to stay healthy and beautiful.

There are also zero chances of getting pests because insects and pests will not get attracted on the grass that they can not eat or make as their home. Because of this, you will have less headaches.

Many people believe that owning a home putting green demands too much effort because of maintenance. This could be quite true if the one in your own home is not a synthetic one. A natural green in your backyard may take up a lot of time because it needs constant maintenance. But if your home putting green is a synthetic one, it will save you a lot of time and resources. …

Traveling in Your Host Country For ESL Teachers

Teaching ESL overseas is a challenge. One of the first challenges with teaching abroad is transportation in your host country. Apart from the United States and Canada most countries use public transportation or mass transit to move their population around. If you have a chance to go to New York or Chicago then use those cities' to practice in before you go. Chicago has the elevated trains for commuters as well as regular trains and buses. New York has the subway and share taxis. Theses share taxis typically follow a route and hold from six to twenty people depending on how many they can shove in.

In the Philippines they are called Jeepnease. In Turkey they are called Dolmush. They will usually take you on routes off of the standard transportation routes that buses follow but not always. Many young people will recognize you as a foreigner and want to practice their English conversation skill with you. Some of them learn English online for free and need a native speaker to practice their conversation skills. They will often be very helpful if you need it.

Buses are a common mode of transportation for between cities. Most countries buses are fantastic. Some even have stewards to serve tea and snacks during the journey. The bathroom facilities on public transportation can be pretty bad so go for you go. Also, always have the necessary hygiene products and anti-diarrhea medicine with you at all times. Door knobs, handles and other peoples' hands are a leading way that you will get sick so wash them, wash them and wash them again after traveling. Bus lines will often give you the option of buying a one way or round trip ticket. Always buy the round trip ticket. You may want to take a detour on your trip but at least you have a way home. If buses seats are not sold many times that run will be canceled potentially leaving you stranded.

Taxis are last on the list because of expense and the isolation that they create between you and the local culture. First they are expensive on an ESL teacher's salary. Even if they are affordable, it is very easy to get taken by a driver fwho didnt turn on the meter or took you for a joy ride and wants full fair. This can break your budget in one bad cab ride. However, keep enough money in your pocket to jump in one during a blizzard or other emergency. The second and more important reason to avoid taxis is that it isolates you from the local culture. The other teachers and the students will be on public transportation. Many good relationships were born and new things learned by talking in the line at the station or bus stop. It also shows them that you are not better than they are but one of them.

The only mode of transportation that you do not want to buy local are your footwear. Have at least …
